Disaster Relief Response

The EMITO Foundation provides non-perishable goods and cooked meals to communities in response to COVID and natural disasters. Within the last few years, over $400,000 in non-perishable goods and cooked meals have been provided to support homeless shelters and vulnerable communities impacted by Hurricane Harvey and COVID.

SCHOLARSHIP FUND

We understand that education is important for a brighter future and the global economy. Our Scholarship Fund provides resources to empower the next generation of leaders. We award funding through an open application process for high school senior level students based in the Greater Houston metropolitan area. All applications are made subject to review of the organization’s reputation and activities and its agreement to comply with applicable terms and conditions. Submission of a scholarship application does not guarantee funding.

Scholarship Fund Guidelines and Instructions

All applicants must be enrolled as a 12th grade student for the current and based in the Greater Houston metropolitan area. All applicants must submit through our online application system. It is important each applicant provides details concerning their educational background, school activities and financial information. All applications are due no later than December 31st.

Step 2 – Prepare and submit your personal statement using our online application. The EMITO Foundation only accepts scholarship requests through our application portal. Selection Process

  1. Applications will be reviewed by an internal committee and management will determine if your application will be awarded a scholarship.
  2. All recipients awarded a scholarship will be notified via email on or before March 15th. All funding decisions are final. Upon receipt, all recipients will be required to submit a copy of their acceptance letter for the college or university expected to attend and any necessary information to submit payment.
  3. All scholarship checks will be mailed directly to the student’s college or university of choice on or before July 18th of the next following year pending graduation status of the student

Community Support

The EMITO Foundation offers funding to platforms and events encouraging social and economic development. We award funding through an open application process and provide funding to local organizations in the city of Houston. All applications are made subject to review of the organization’s reputation and activities and its agreement to comply with applicable terms and conditions. Submission of an application does not guarantee funding.

Sponsorship Fund Guidelines and Instructions

Guidelines – All requests for community support in the form of grants or sponsorships must be submitted through our online application system. Only proposals meeting specific guidelines and furthering our strategic goals and objectives, will be considered for approval.

Limitation – Those that discriminate in its programs, activities or hiring policies. Those affiliated with any national organization or chapter that discriminates based on race, color, national or ethnic origin, ancestry, age, religion, disability, medical condition, sex or gender, gender identity and/or expression, sexual orientation, marital status, military or veteran status, or any other characteristic protected under applicable federal, state or local law. Organizations that will use funds to support political parties, candidates or lobbying activities, publications, fraternal or labor organizations, advertising, capital campaigns or endowments. Those not recognized as charitable organizations by the Internal Revenue Service.

  • Religious organizations must agree that the funds will be designated only to ongoing secular community service programs that do not propagate a belief in specific faith and are open to all persons. These programs must have a formal mission and separate budget, and benefits of the grants must not be limited exclusively to the organization’s members.
  • The organization must also meet the requirements placed upon charitable organizations under applicable law, including the Internal Revenue Code.

Due to the volume of inquiries, we cannot respond individually to requests for status. Step 5 – We will advise you by email if your proposal has been approved or declined. If your application is approved, we will follow up with your organization via email notification. Due to the volume of inquiries, we cannot respond individually to organizations not selected for further consideration.

  2. All applications are reviewed within a twelve-week period from the time of submission
  3. Organizations will be notified of any decision via email. All funding decisions are final.
  4. If an organization is approved, the organization will be contacted for a representative to pick up the check.

Christmas Care Relief

Feeding Communities and Making a Difference. Over the years, EMITO Foundation has distributed containers of perishable and non-perishable goods provided by Wazobia African Market to families in need during the holidays. The Christmas Care Relief is open to individuals and families in need based in the Greater Houston metropolitan area. All interested individuals or families are required to complete the online form to be considered for the Christmas Care Relief by November 15th. It is important to give complete details concerning your background and financial information. The application will open October 1st – November 15th.
